After bringing the NCAA Central Regional home to the Health and Sports Center for the first time since 2019, the UNK volleyball season came to an end in the semifinals with a loss to No. 4 St. Cloud State on Friday night.

Elkhorn upsets Grand Island Northwest to advance to state tournament
In a rematch of a game that took place on April 8, No. 12 Elkhorn defeated No. 5 Grand Island Northwest 2-1 for the second time this season. Sophomore captain, Ella Rodgers, scored the game-winning goal in her first game back from a one-game suspension for a red card.

Loper runner rises from walk-on to national qualifier
For Ella Buhlke, her heart had always belonged to cross country, to the point where Buhlke was going to decline her entry into the Kearney Health Opportunities Program if she didn’t have a spot on the UNK cross country team. However, a vacation incident that put Buhlke and two family members into the hospital gave Buhlke a new identity in life.
Berg returns from Guatemala with new perspective
Junior middle blocker Mia Berg is the reigning MIAA Offensive Player of the Year and American Volleyball Coaches Association All-American. This summer, Berg discovered a new perspective during a medical internship in Guatemala.
Schimmer rewriting record books for UNK soccer
When Hanna Schimmer called UNK soccer coach Rob Breton to announce her commitment, Breton sprinted around the top floor of the Health & Sports Center in excitement. This fall, Schimmer became the first Loper in program history to score 10 goals in a season and was tied for the most goals in the MIAA.

The UNK administration is looking to prevent further budget cuts and bolster the University’s future by restructuring UNK’s colleges. This spring marks the first step in a long iterative process toward that goal with the first draft.
